Hello Giinawind Families!

I am thrilled to be the first principal of Giinawind Public School. My name is Kim Freeman, and after 28 years as an educator, from the classrooms of St. Jacobs to the principal’s office at Central Public School, I am excited to build this new school community with you.

Opening a new school is a rare and beautiful opportunity. It allows us to build a school culture from the very first brick, rooted in the belief that education is a fundamental right and that every child deserves a school where they belong.

I believe that for students to achieve their best, they must first feel safe, seen, and valued. At Giinawind, our focus is rooted in the meaning of our name, ensuring that “Us” always includes everyone through a deep commitment to inclusivity. Our dedicated staff uses responsive, trauma-informed practices to meet every learner where they are, prioritizing mental health and well-being to foster a truly caring environment. We also know that the connection between home and school is the key to student success. Whether it is through our School Council, family nights, or a quick chat at the gate, your voice matters here, and I look forward to building those partnerships with you.

Whether you have a question, a concern, or just want to share a story about your child, please never hesitate to reach out. I am always open to a visit or a phone call.

I can’t wait to meet you all!

Warmly,

Kim Freeman

Principal of Giinawind Public School
